August 24, 2018: MAVEN Project Educational Session, Rheumatology: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.

Presentation Title: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Bio:Dr. Katherine Upchurch is the Clinical Chief of Rheumatology at U Mass Memorial Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at University of Massachusetts Medical School. She has been continuously employed there since completion of her own training in 1982. Dr. Upchurch’s abiding passions throughout her career have been the care of patients with all rheumatic diseases and medical education. She teaches at all levels (medical students, post-graduate trainees, and fellows). She has been a leader in the Massachusetts Medical Society and the American College of Rheumatology and was selected in 2017 to be an ACR Master. In 2015, the New England Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation honored her with the Marion Ropes Award, given to one area rheumatologist annually for “excellence in arthritis care.”
