The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.

Presentation Title: Chronic Kidney Disease: A Primer for Primary Care Physicians

Bio:Virginia U. Collier, MD, MACP is the Chair Emeritus of the Department of Medicine of Christiana Care Health System, a two hospital 1,100 bed tertiary care hospital in Wilmington, DE. She is an Honorary Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. She recently retired after 37 years as a clinician (internist/nephrologist), medical educator, and physician leader. Dr. Collier has devoted the majority of her career to promoting the highest standards of professionalism and to enhancing the education of medical students, residents, and practicing internists. Among her numerous national activities, she was Governor of the Delaware Chapter of the American College of Physicians and completed two 3-year terms on the ACP Board of Regents. For over 20 years she has played an integral role in the ACP’s Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP), first as a writer and currently as deputy editor for the MKSAP Update programs and Editor in Chief of MKSAP Board Basics. Dr. Collier has received numerous teaching awards during her career. She was one of ten residency program directors in the United States and the only internist to be chosen as an inaugural winner of the ACGME’s Parker J. Palmer “Courage to Teach” Award for outstanding program directors.
