Aliados Health has a team of Certified Enrollment Counselors (CECs) who can assist you with your Medi-Cal application or renewal. Our CECs can explain the documentation that is required, assist you with the application process, and let you know what to expect once the process is completed. Services are confidential and provided at no cost.

Medi-Cal

Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program that provides needed healthcare services for low-income individuals including families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, children in foster care, pregnant women, and low-income people.

Who is eligible for Medi-Cal?

Eligibility is open to California residents, individuals must meet Medi-Cal income guidelines

You can apply for Medi-Cal benefits regardless of:

  • sex
  • race
  • religion
  • color
  • national origin
  • sexual orientation
  • gender identity
  • marital status
  • age
  • disability
  • veteran status

If you are enrolled in one of the following programs, you may also be eligible for Medi-Cal:

  • CalFresh
  • SSI/SSP
  • CalWORKs (AFDC)
  • Refugee Assistance
  • Foster Care or Adoption Assistance Program

Extended Eligibility for Medi-Cal:

According to the California Department of Healthcare Services

People who have any of the following circumstances may also be eligible for Medi-Cal:

  • 65 years or older
  • Blind
  • Disabled
  • Under 21 years of age
  • Pregnant
  • In a skilled nursing or intermediate care home
  • On refugee statues for a limited time, depending on the length of time in the U.S.
  • A parent or caretaker relative of an age-eligible child
  • Have been screened for breast and or cervical cancer

Changes for Certain Adult Immigrants

Starting January 1, 2026, Medi-Cal will freeze new enrollments for certain adults who are undocumented and do not have a satisfactory immigration status for federal full scope Medi-Cal. This group will no longer be able to newly enroll in full scope Medi-Cal, even if they qualified before under state-funded programs.

Starting July 1, 2026, dental benefits will no longer be provided to adult Medi-Cal members who do not have satisfactory immigration status.
