February 7, 2018: MAVEN Project Educational Session, Pediatrics (repeat session):
The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.
Speaker: Dr. Joyce Adams

Presentation Title: Evaluating Genital Complaints in Young Girls
Bio: Dr. Adams is currently the Course Director for the Pediatric Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) course sponsored by the California Clinical Forensic Medical Training Center (CCFMTC) in Sacramento, CA. She is a retired Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UCSD, where she taught for almost 20 years. She received both her MA in Biochemistry and her MD from the University of Kansas.
Description: Dr. Joyce Adams is an expert on child abuse, and will be leading a discussion on detecting and handling potential cases of child abuse, focusing on young girls. *Please Note* This discussion will mostly be focused on the experiences of the providers at the University of Miami Pediatric Mobile Clinic, however, participants and questions about cases outside this clinic are welcome.
