MAVEN Project: Obstetrics & Gynecology

June 27, 2018: MAVEN Project Educational Session, Obstetrics & Gynecology: Menopause Update:

The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.

Dr. Herr will discuss new perspectives regarding hormone therapy for menopausal women and review the current data on non-hormonal management of menopausal symptoms. A case-based approach will be used; audience input is most welcome and will be encouraged.

Speaker: Dr. Jan Herr

Specialty: Obstetrics & Gynecology

Presentation Title: Menopause Update

Bio: Dr. Herr is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist; she retired from Kaiser Permanente in San Rafael, CA in August 2016 after completing 33 years of practice. Her focus in recent years has been mid-life women’s health and minimally invasive surgery. Jan was the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Lead for Midlife Women’s Health; she has always valued the many opportunities her role has afforded her to teach residents, staff and patients.
She misses daily contact with her many long-term patients and colleagues as well as the challenges of the office and the OR, but admittedly not the pressured pace and the day-to-day level of intensity. Dr. Herr is a UCSF Volunteer Clinical Faculty member and enjoys teaching OBGYN topics to medical students. In addition, she worked to establish and is now participating in the RotaCare Clinic for uninsured women in Richmond, California.
