MAVEN Project: Motivational Interviewing

June 14, 2018: MAVEN Project Educational Session, Family Practice: Motivational Interviewing:

The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.

Many if not most patients with chronic medical problems (diabetes, obesity, smoking, etc.) find it very difficult to adopt lifestyle changes that could significantly improve their health and lower their risk for poor outcomes. Motivational Interviewing is a technique that has been shown to be very effective in engaging patients to take charge of their health. This presentation is a brief introduction to some of the tools used in Motivational Interviewing.

Speaker: Dr. Peter Candell
