The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.

Presentation Title: Evaluating Genital Complaints in Young Girls

Bio: Joyce A. Adams, MD is a pediatrician who provided clinical care, teaching, and clinical research in academic, university affiliated practices for most of her 37-year career. At the beginning of her career, Dr. Adams served as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical School, where she graduated from medical school. She then served as an Associate Clinical Professor with the Fresno-UCSF Medical Training Program in Fresno, California, where, in addition to teaching and practicing general pediatrics, she directed the Child Sexual Abuse Evaluation Program at Valley Medical Center, Fresno. Finally, Dr. Adams served as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, where she specialized in Adolescent Medicine and continued to provide medical care for sexually abused children. The main focus of her teaching, research, and publications has been improving and standardizing the evaluation and treatment of sexually abused children.
