North Bay Area Health Education Center (AHEC)

Aliados Health is proud to direct the North Bay Area Health Education Center (AHEC). The North Bay AHEC was established in 2024 to recruit, train, and retain health care professionals committed to underserved populations.  North Bay AHEC is one of 12 regional AHEC programs in California.

The North Bay AHEC serves Sonoma, Marin, Napa, Solano, Contra Costa, and Yolo Counties by administering the AHEC scholar program, supporting training and pathways programs for health profession students, and collaborating and building partnerships with academic institutions.

The Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program was developed by Congress in 1971 to respond to the health care access challenges in rural and underserved communities.  Today AHEC is a nationwide system with more than 300 AHEC programs nationwide and program offices in nearly every state.  AHEC programs across the country are working to improve the distribution, diversity, quality and supply of health care workers in rural and under-resourced areas

AHEC Scholars

AHEC scholars program is for health professional students interested in enhancing their education and training so that they are prepared to work in community health centers and community organizations in underserved and rural areas of the North Bay.
