April 19, 2018: MAVEN Project Educational Session, Rheumatology: Gout: Ancient Disease with a New Avatar
The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.
A brief talk discussing and detailing the antiquity, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical, diagnostic and management of hyperuricemia and gout. The newer guidelines in achieving better treatment targets and outcomes in primary care will be the focus.

Bio: Dr. Kumar Venkat is a board-certified Rheumatologist who is currently part of the teaching faculty at Kaiser and the UC Riverside School of Medicine. Previously he’s held faculty positions at UC Irvine, USC, and the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and ran the residency program at Kaiser. He has had a significant number of speaking opportunities, including local and national Kaiser conferences, CME lectures at Kaiser Orange County, and close to home at his local community clinic.
