The MAVEN Project is very excited to announce our upcoming Educational Sessions! As always, these sessions are presented via Zoom videoconferencing, and consist of 20-30 minutes of a presentation and 15 – 20 minutes of Q&A. Our volunteers are eager to discuss your patients, so please don’t hesitate to come with questions or cases you’d like to discuss.

Speaker: Dr. Judian Smith

Specialty: Psychiatry

Presentation Title: Managing Care for Patients with Borderline Personality Disorder in Primary Care

Bio: Smith is a general psychiatrist with a private practice in Madison, Wisconsin for 30 years, providing both psychotherapy and medications for patients. She has been a Clinical Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics since 1988. She teaches seminars to residents and medical students on topics such as working with Personality Disorder patients, doing mental status exams, and diagnosing and treating difficult to treat psychiatric patients. Until 2008, she was the Medical Director for a mobile community (outreach) treatment program through the Mental Health Center of Dane County in Wisconsin, providing care for patients with severe schizophrenia. She has always loved teaching, and over the years has supervised a variety of professionals in the community who are providing care to patients with a mental health diagnosis..
